Jazmine Sullivan Talks 'Love Me Back,' Plus Excitement to Tour with MJB:

Seven-time Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan will be joining her idol Mary J. Blige on tour this fall, which kicked off October 2nd in Atlanta. The 11-city “Music Saved My Life” tour will feature opening
act Miguel and special guest El Debarge on select dates.

“I am so excited about this tour because not only is it a great opportunity to showcase my new music, but I have always been in awe of Mary J. Blige,” says Sullivan. “She could have asked anyone to be one this tour with her but she asked me. I am beyond honored.”

Blige is also a fan of Sullivan’s and is happy to have her on this tour. “Jazmine is an amazing singer and great songwriter. Her voice is so needed, so gospel and soul, and so perfect. I’m a fan. I love her,” said Blige.

Sullivan’s fans are being given the chance to see the Philly soul singer while she is on tour this fall when they “like” her Facebook page and can enter to win a pair of tickets to one of the shows and meet Sullivan before her performance. The contest is running through October 20th on www.facebook.com/jazminesullivan.

During her tour performances, Sullivan will perform tracks off her 2008 critically-acclaimed debut album Fearless. Audiences will also be hearing tracks from Sullivan’s upcoming sophomore album Love Me Back, which will be released November 30th on J Records.

“I consider being in the music industry like an intimate relationship where I give it my all- love, time, energy, blood, sweat and tears,” explains Sullivan of her second album’s song title. “As much as I put into the relationship, with all its ups and downs, I’m just asking for the industry and the fans to love me back.”

On this album, Sullivan lets her lyrics and soul-wrenching vocals shine through with songs such as “10 Seconds,” “Redemption,” “Excuse Me,” “Famous,” and “U Get On My Nerves,” a duet with Ne-Yo. The album has production from Missy Elliott, Salaam Remi, Ne-Yo, Chuck Harmony, Anthony Bell, and No-ID.

Sullivan’s first single “Holding You Down (Goin’ In Circles)” is influenced by Mary J. Blige and is #4 on the Urban Mainstream Radio Chart. The video, directed by Marcus Raboy, has an old school house party theme and has been in the top 10 countdown on BETs 106th & Park since it debuted on August 30th. Her next single will be “10 Seconds,” which is also reminiscent of Blige.
