David Archuleta Shows His Youth on Sophomore Album:

David Archuleta..
David Archuleta is going to get his chance to show his teenage side when he releases his sophomore album, The Upside of Down on Oct.5. The “American Idol” Season 7 runner-up’s self-titled debut album sold 762, 000 copies,
but did not capture his youthfulness, aside from the single “Crush.”

The 19-year-old Utah native’s second effort will show his fun side with the help of upbeat pop songs.

“My goal with the album was to make it as ‘me’ as possible,” says Archuleta. “I wanted to introduce people to the kind of goofy, dorky, weird personality I have. The first album had a lot of great pop songs, but this album is so much more personal.”

Archuleta wrote 10 of the album’s 12 tracks, and worked with Emanuel Kiriakou and Dave Hodges, the writers of his song “Crush.”

Nashville, was the setting for Archuleta’s writing sessions for this new album, and took place between the release of his holiday album, “Christmas From the Heart” and his book which was published in June, “Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song, and the Power of Perseverance.”

The first single, “Something ‘Bout Love,” was released on July 20, and 45, 000 downloads have been sold.

On this second album, fans can expect to hear songs such as “Things are Gonna Get Better,” where Archuleta gives an uplifting message, and “Elevator,” where he puts his boyish charm on display.
