British boy band JLS has teamed with Durex to launch their own range of condoms to promote safe sex. The condoms, aptly called “Just Love Safe brand,” will feature the pop stars' faces on each packet. So how did this come about? The group says, “We were at The Sun [newspaper] and mentioned that we had the idea of having our own condom range. The boss of Durex saw the story in the paper, got in touch and the idea was born from there.”
JLS is in hopes that their safe-sex campaign will help prevent unplanned pregnancies and keep fans safe from sexually transmitted diseases.
"The stats show that (in) the United Kingdom, we have the highest rate of unplanned pregnancies and ST[D]s compared to every other country throughout Europe,” JLS star Oritse Williams tells Britain's Live From Studio Five. “For us, we are in a great position to make a difference to our culture. People are influenced by us as a band and they listen to what we say."
All the profits from the condoms will go to the JLS Charity Foundation, and from their the band members will donate to their chosen charities.
