The love for music has no ending. 74-year-old "Godfather of Go-Go" Chuck Brown has teamed with Soul diva Jill Scott on his first single, “Love,” off his forthcoming 3-disc album, 'We Got This,' out September 21st on Raw Venture. On "Love," Brown and Scott trade verses about what love is. The collaboration, which also includes music man Marcus Miller, boost an ultra-tight horn section and Miller's bass keep things super-funky.
The live CD/DVD, which includes five new songs, documents Brown and band working their way from Duke Ellington's "It Don't Mean A Thing" to KRS One's "Rappaz R. N. Dainja" to Brown's seminal 1979 hit "Bustin' Loose."
'We Got This' follows the 2007 release of Brown's critically acclaimed studio album 'We're About The Business,' which gave the Go-Go legend his highest chart and sales debuts to date. Ledisi also appears on the set’s "Funky Stuff" and "Senorita."
Brown will join The Roots on September 28, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
